Post Office Rifles on the Somme and at Loos
Blessed with the most glorious autumn weather and with 17 cousins and relations from the same stable, we spent 4 days following the footsteps of the Post Office Rifles on the Somme and at Loos. Moving and great fun throughout. It is such a pleasure to take the next generation, to whom we throw the torch- “be yours to hold it high”.
I can highly commend “Men of Letters” by Duncan Barrett, the story of the Post Office Rifles, 8th Bn City of London Regiment.. It depicts so well how seemingly normal some life was for some of our troops when not in the front line.
